It’s Tip Tuesday! Today’s tip is about snail mail. I love snail mail. It’s such an easy way to brighten someone’s day. Our mailboxes are so full of bills and junk mail these days, it’s such a great feeling when you pull out something special!
When you get a letter in the mail, the envelope is the first thing you see. So, why not make it fun and cheerful!
Here are 4 ways to decorate your envelopes
Decorate with a theme
This is a fun one! Are you sending your snail mail to a Harry Potter fan? Decorate your envelope with drawings and lettering that match. Flowers, animals, rainbows, Disney, seasons, holidays, etc. The possibilities are endless! Be creative with it.
Mix Lettering Styles
Lettering the name and address doesn’t have to be boring! Have fun mixing up the lettering styles. Make the name in a larger script so it really stands out. Letter the other lines in a different style to give it some visual interest.
Repeating pattern on the back of the envelope
The back of the envelope needs some love too! Surprise your recipient with encouraging words when they open the envelope. One of my favorite ways to do this, is to write a repeating pattern of happy phrases. So easy but so meaningful!
Decorate the inside flap of the envelope
Give your recipient an extra special surprise when they finally do open the envelope! You could do anything in this space. Draw a fun pattern or letter something happy.
My favorite markers for envelope decorating are Tombow Twintones. They come in a variety of colors.
