April 1st kicks off National Letter Writing Month! The U.S. Postal Service started it back in 2001 as a way “to raise awareness of the importance and historical significance of card and letter writing”. That happy feeling of getting a letter in the mail just doesn’t compare to that of receiving a text or email.
Why write? Well here are some reasons why:
* letters and cards are thoughtful and sentimental
*it can brighten someone’s day
* it brings JOY
* allows for creative expression
* it’s something physical that can be saved and cherished
This month I’ll be sharing with you Tips & tutorials about how to create fun snail mail and why you should send snail mail. But first, you’ll need to gather your supplies. Here are some of my favorite letter writing supplies!
Tombow Brush Pens & TwinTone Markers
It’s no secret that I love Tombow Brush Pens– they are perfect for making cards & decorating envelopes. Tombow Dual Brush Pens come in 108 colors and have two tips- a brush and bullet tip. I also love the Tombow TwinTone Markers! These do not have a brush tip. This marker has a monoline tip on each end (different sizes). Perfect for writing names and addresses on envelopes! Blank Cards/Envelopes/Cardstock
Sending letters and cards doesn’t have to be expensive! You can purchase packs of blank cards with envelopes at any craft store for under $10. You can also use any paper you have to fold cards and envelopes yourself!
Mixbook Cards & Stationery
If you love to buy cards and stationery to send, I’m a huge fan of Mixbook! I’ve even collaborated with them, so I can promise you that you won’t be disappointed. They have a wide-range of designs (many created by fellow artists and letterers)- you can even create your own cards with your own designs!
Stickers & Washi Tape
Stickers and washi tape make the best accessory for snail mail! There are so many cute options out there- like these stickers from Pipsticks. It adds just a simple fun touch that will make your receipent smile.
So, gather up your supplies and get ready for Letter Writing Month! What supplies do you love to use? Leave a comment and let all of us know!
