April is National Letter Writing Month! Get your cards ready- but don’t send them in a plain envelope. The outside can make your receipent smile just as much as the inside can!
Here is an example of some fun hand drawn art you can add to your envelope: a cute garden sign with flowers!
MATERIALS
To create the garden sign art, you’ll need:
brush pens/markers * envelope * pencil * eraser
Here I used Tombow Brush Pens, Tombow TwinTone Markers & a Tombow MONO pencil and eraser.
SKETCH
Using a pencil, sketch out your design. Draw the sign first. You want to make sure it’s big enough to fit the person’s name and address and so the mail delivers can read it clearly. I drew flowers at the bottom in different shapes and sizes.
COLOR
Using brush pens and markers I added color. Feel free to get as detailed as you’d like.
CLEAN UP & OUTLINING
Erase pencil lines and outline with a Tombow MONO Drawing pen. An outline adds dimension and allows the color to pop off the envelope. Don’t be too worried about the black outline being perfect- a loose outline adds some whimsy.
ADDRESS
In the sign write the name and address. I like to pencil it in first, so there’s no mistakes. Remember to make it big enough so it can be clearly read. Here I used a Tombow MONOTWIN to letter.
This is just one hand drawn art example- the possibilities are endless!!
