Wow! Where did the month of July go? The summer has gone so quickly and although I was quite busy last month, I made sure to have time to play with some of my new favorite things!
What I’m loving from the month of July are actual products that I have and really enjoy. And I know that you will love them too!
TOMBOW MONO DRAWING PENS
Tombow recently released their new line of MONO drawing pens and they are fantastic! They come in three tip sizes: 01, 03 and 05. Think of that as the thickness of the line; 01 being thin and 05 being thickest. They are also water-based pigment ink and will dry instantly- without smudging. Isn’t that the best?
They are perfect for illustration work!
Tombow also released another new product- the TwinTone Markers. These come in 2 different packs: Brights & Pastels. Both packs have gorgeous colors. The markers are double-sided: broad tip for a thicker line and an extra fine tip for more detailed lines. I’ve been waiting for a product like this from Tombow, and they don’t disappoint!
I love them for lettering, doodling and writing in your planner! I’ll be sharing a blog post all about the very soon! Definitely one to put on your wish list!
CRICUT BRIGHT PAD
There’s one word to describe the Cricut Bright Pad: awesome. It’s the perfect lettering companion. The light is soft and doesn’t hurt your eyes. Definitely a plus. The surface is super smooth and it’s very light weight. What’s it for you you might be wondering? Take your sketch; place it on the bright pad; put a clean piece of paper over top and letter! No need to use your brush pens right over your pencil marks when you have this.

HAND LETTERING BOOKS
I’m so proud to say that I “internet know” these two ladies and both are such lettering inspirations!
‘Brush Pen Lettering’ by Grace Song is resource that’s perfect for beginners! This book starts you with the basics: supplies, technical terms, basic strokes & gives your guidelines for the alphabet. You will love the section on embellishing your lettering! My favorite quote from the book is, ” Don’t be so hard on yourself and remember that as long as you put in the time and be consistent with your practice, you will also progress.” Great advice Grace! ‘Hand Lettering for Relaxation’ by Amy Latta is fantastic for beginners and even seasoned lettering artists as well! I really love the “workshop” layout of this book. It’s packed full of tips, techniques and definitely relaxation. Amy covers everything from faux calligraphy, to brush lettering, to embellishment techniques. I love the workshop on Negative Space Designs. My favorite quote from the book is, referring to hand lettering, “The best part, though, is that it can be a great way to relax and relieve stress as you go through the motions of forming a design.” Definitely agree Amy! So that’s a wrap for July! Can’t wait to see what August holds!
Happy Lettering,
